The Return of Safe Kava – White Paper

Sep 28, 2016 | AFS News

1 minute to read

New Extract for Relaxation, Reduced Stress, and Sleep

Traditionally, kava is consumed as a beverage obtained through the infusion of ground kava root and/or rhizome in water. Today several extracts standardized in the biologically active constituents kavalactones (KLs) are marketed both as herbal medicinal products for anxiety disorders and as dietary supplements to improve stress disorders, nervous tension, and restlessness.

  • Kava has shown positive effects on reaction time, cognitive processing and anxiety.
  • Studies suggest kava may offer benefits to mood, as well as muscle relaxing properties.
  • Potential side effects can occur when high doses of kava are taken for extended periods.
